eye laser surgery

I would really like to have this procedure done but am obviously quite scared. I have sent off for lots of brochures but there are so many different clinics and different types of procedure I am confused. Has anyone had this done, if so where and what procedure did you have, also would you recommend it. The nearest areas to me would be Stockport or Manchester. Thanks.
