dont worry about the growth scan, as long as you are not doing anything that can cause slow growth (smoking, drinking etc) then its more than likely that she takes after you and is small. Think of the positives, another chance to see her on a scan rather than waiting 20 weeks to see her, oh and the childbirth has got to be less daunting when baby is petite like mum rather than taking after a big strapping father with wide shoulders like my 'little' bundle did.

Thanks redcrx. I've never smoked in my whole life )im still so proud - and neither has Karl) and i havent had one drink (surprisingly!!!) since being pregnant so hopefully its nothing serious.

Very true, nat ~ once the bubba arrives anyone who has a wish for one or the other usually changes their minds!
Mind you, when I had my first baby (a 91/2 lb whopper) she went into special care, and I was on a ward with a woman who had had a boy..and had desperately wanted a girl. She wouldn't even look at her baby, let alone touch him or feed him. I am sure (well I hope) that this changed later on, but all I could think about was that my baby was far away from me and I couldn't touch her or look at her. At that point I wouldn't have cared if she was a girl, boy or alien!
I actually went over to her baby and picked him up when he was crying and she didn't gve a toss :o(
On that note I will go and have another cry...lol.

Ooops forgot to mention that pa___ul is correct ~ it is a scientific fact that X sperm have to swim faster (they are generally slower than Y sperm) and have to fight to survive..hence the other saying:
'Any man can have a son, but it takes a REAL man to produce a daughter'
;o)
If only Henry Vlll had known that!

Well there are goodness knows how many million sperm, and only one egg to fertilise ~ the womans body would be controlling whether she release two eggs in a row (fraternal, or 'non identical' twins which can be hereditary) or one egg dividing (non fraternal, or 'identical' twins which are not hereditary).
Unless the woman in question has twins in her maternal line, you should be safe...although of course identical twins can still occur!
