tracing the country of an international number

My mate has a bit of a weird kind of stalker situation going on. Now she has recieved a text supposedly from one person who she knows who is abroad. However it would be really odd if this person even had her number let alone texted her, but we have a suspicion of who it might actually be. Anyway my question is, we have the number the text was sent from. It is an international one. Is there any way to trace which country the number is registered in from just having the number as it comes through with a text? Thankyou

Ah ok so a mobile will come with same prefix as a landline. Thankyou x

It sounds very much like one of those hoax texts or telephone calls people have been getting, the unsuspecting people then call that number and run up a massive bill or even worse the hoaxers tap into the phone line and cause major financial damage.

Just be warned, hope though it is someone you know! :)
