Nasty pain in side

I have a bad pain in my right hand side running from my chest to around the centre of the ribs. I had a bad cough last week and assumed that I had strained a muscle. The pain has however come back again and hurts to touch. Is it just a strain?, any ideas?

can you take in a really deep breath without it hurting?

When i take a deep breath it hurts along the side of the ribs

I had a cold once which developed into a chest infection (because I have asthma it always gets me). I sneezed and cracked a rib and had all the pains you are describing. I was laid in bed for over a month.

Go see your doctor just in case
