Falling asleep while a passenger in car
12 Answers
I have a bad habit of falling asleep while travelling as a passenger in my boyfriend's car. I hate doing it but can't seem to help it, I always get enough sleep of a night so I can't blame it on tiredness. Does anyone else suffer from this and have any tips on staying awake?

If not, and your bf doesn't mind, I see two solutions:
1. keep on sleeping; if you fall asleep, i means your body needs it. The sound of the engine running is actually very soothing, I find!
2. hold a non-stop conversation/argument. Now's the time to ask such capital questions as "do you think I'm fat?", "why don't you ake any efforts with my mother", "Remember that thing you said 7 months ago? NO? How CAN you!, you thoughtless, insensitive ***!!"
That'll keep you awake. ;-P

I sometimes snore! Yes my boyfriend does seem to mind, though I've told him I can't help it, it's not like I sit down and go ahh, I'm going to fall asleep now. It just happens. He thinks it's rude.
Lol at the questions, I do try and keep a convo going but he usually has music on or talksport. If it's not interesting I can't listen to it. Plus he always has the heat on really high, even though at home he never has the heating on and I'm always freezing. I'm just being moany now aren't I? :P

my partner does this all the time. Within 5 minutes of getting in the car it's eyes shut and silence. I'm just glad she doesn't have the problem when she's driving. I don't think it's rude and just laugh when she wakes up embarassed. Fortunately she doesn't dribble or snore so I like the peace and quiet to concentrate. Maybe because I've always been a biker I just get on with driving (with a little bit of radio on)
my hubby does a lot of driving, up and down the country for his job and there is usually 2 of them but they have a rule that if one is driving the other should try and stay awake, obviously its not always possible if for example they have a very very long drive but i can see why they have this rule for themselves.. It is boring enough driving and if you feel tired it mustnt help with the passenger fast asleep next to you!
I sympathise with you Clarabel as I also have the unfortunate habit of doing this. My b/f doesn't mind but I always feel really guilty. I fidget, move round in my seat, sing, and talk to try and stay awake but it doesn't last long,! He sometimes brakes suddenly to jolt me awake (without causing any danger to other motorists of course) - he finds that very amusing!
