Any journalist out there with a kind heart
21 Answers
I am a member or a campaign attempting to have a Scottish character reinstated to Stargate Atlantis.
On Thursday about 100 of our members demonstrated outside Bridge Studios in Vancouver and the Canadian Press has covered it.
We have been told by Joe Mallozzi that if we get some mention of this event on mainstream TV in the US that he will reinstate the character for 2 episodes.
We really need some mainstream coverage here in the UK as well as in the US and Canada (and the rest of the world). Maybe we can get him reinstated full-time.
If anybody can help please visit the campaign site at
http://www.savecarsonbeckett.com/
Thanks for reading this blurb, and extra thanks if you are willing and able to help.
Any non-journalists can also help by visiting the site, spreading the word or (dare I say it!) donating dosh to the fund.
We may not be planning something that may change the planet or anything too serious. But TV is a medium that people use to escape from the world and we don't want our favourite Scotsman to die.

What an empty come back.
You cant criticize something that is none existent.
I'm very happy with my life thankyou very much - and like to think that I have much better things to do than to lobby the makers of a fictional programme about a fictional character - and get people to donate money to this worthless cause - THERE'S MORE TO LIFE !!!

we are all big SG1 fans in this house, we all know the characters well and have all the seasons, it is sad sG1 is ending, my sons both have an intense interest in SG1 and Atlantis, they consider themselves to be firm fans of both shows. i have read out your question to them and they just looked abit confused and walked away tutting. My youngest son said, 'the doctors dead, how can they reinstate him?'
I remember back in 1969 when Granada TV used to have a show on every week called 'Put it in Writing' it was hosted by Bob Greaves. My friends and I spent days writing out the word 'please' over and over again on pages and pages of paper, we all went to the school stationary cupboard and got new 'GNB'.s (General Note Books). We sent off all these 'pleases' to Bob asking if Granada TV would show Garrisons Gorillas again!!!! It worked, but it was shown at 11.40 on a Thursday night and we were only 14!!!! it was important to us then, maybe wolf is 14 too lol
Yeah - I am able to laugh. I know that there are only a small percentage of people even interested in this.
In SG1 there was a similar campaign when Michael Shanks left/was sacked and the campaign worked, be was re-employed again after a years absence.
Thank you Dot.Hawkes - you are the voice of reason. But I am afraid I am probably older than the 14 year olds granny.
I have heard all the laughter and insults and laughed along too - I am not really a 'serious' person. My brother just sighed.
So - no more insults. Journalists only - there has to be a crazy Sci-Fi loving one out there!

my other son says, he was in it for 2 seasons and was pretty good but the wall of fire that engulfed him was pretty conclusive and so don't too emotional but always remember Spike came back into Angel at the end of episode 1 season 5 after the buffy finale, therefore all things are josswheedon, which is the new word for possible.
Sorry, not a journo - though good luck with your campaign.
At least Dr B got a decent send off, unlike Dr Frazier in SG1!
That said, I have to say that the entire "Stargate" franchise has been growing a bit stale of late. The final season of SG1 was only made bearable by the lovely Claudia Black, and the morality in Atlantis ("Bio-warfare? Hell, yeah!") along with the "trapped until a last-second beam out" plots is leaving me cold. Unless Virgin get Sky One back, I don't think that I'll bother with the next season. (Though - sorry about this - as a heterosexual male, I'd rather look at Jewel Staite than Paul McG!)

i agree it does seem a bit over the top, but at the same time as long as it doesn't take over your life and become an obsession, go for it...your not hurting anyone (i presume!) and as long as its just signing a few forms etc then i see no harm...it might just work.
but if you are going to go on demonstrations and campaigns then i do think you need to think again.
i would also say - it is up to the writers what they do with their characters - you have no right to demand they do anything.
surely him going out with a bang rather than fizzling out with a few lame storylines, that have been forced, is a much better option.

Well I am a journalist. Not in Canada, the US or the UK though, I'm in South Africa.
A big SG:A fan, but I'm sure we are pretty far behind here, the last episode I remember is where Rodney and the soldier guy play a strategy game that turns out to be real.
Ha ha, this is pretty funny, but the best I can do is put it in our local paper and hope it makes someone chuckle.

jac8awol - when I received the link telling me that there had been another posting I was nervous about visiting the site, but you have cheered me up.
If you visit the site http://www.savecarsonbeckett.com/ you will see that other media people have taken interest. REAL media people - not the weirdo/whacko type papers.
We are not a bunch of teenage love struck weirdos, but we are dedicated Stargate Atlantis fans. There has been contact by some fans in SA and from, basically, all over the world. There are hundreds of us - scary or what!
