Blushing
12 Answers
This is crazy, I am old enough to have got a hang on this by now but I have started blushing at work. I was in a meeting the other day and the speaker insinuated that someone at work had done something wrong, she said "naming no names" and went on to describe what it was etc.
I sat there and went bright red, thinking that other people would think it was me (even though it wasnt). As I had gone red I made it look obvious that it was me who had done this thing, even though I hadnt and the more I felt guilty the redder I went, I could do nothing about it.
Does anyone have any tips for avoiding this or know why it happens? I felt SO stupid.

i have also gone red in situations when i think people think its me, even if it isnt. i dont know what you can do. distraction like drinking water helps me, or not getting eye contact when you feel you may blush.

Yeah it could be self confidence. It seems to be something in my brain goes on auto-pilot and I think 'Im going to blush' and thats it - I do! But its very bad, my heart beats, my palms sweat and I want to run out of the room!
Its very embarrassing when its at work and someone has been doing something wrong and you make yourself look guilty like that.
I think I will try some distracting techniques or force myself to think of something else!

I do it all the time and I hate it. I am quite a confident person though so I don't know why I do it. I hate it when people point it out as well - it makes it worse. All my friends laugh at me because of it. In fact last night I went shopping and my partners best mate's new girlfriend was on the counter. I was just about to pull out my purse and two sanitary towels flew out. I went bright red! I said to my partner on the way out "Did you see what I did?" (he always wanders off) and he said "No, but I saw you go red, I was gonna shout BEETROOT but thought you'd slap me". ha ha.
It happens to me too, worse thing is I can feel a warm flush creeping up my neck and can't do anything to stop it. I get a blotchy neck and chest too sometimes, even worse!! It's usually when I feel a bit embarrassed or self-conscious and happened at an interview last week. I know it's going to happen in certain situations and wish I knew a way to stop it too!
I get the same thing..there no reason for it at imes it just happens.
I try to think about something completely different to take my mind off.
I will think about something really cold...try and remember the last time you were really cold and it was painfull it was so cold try and put yourself there and remember what it felt like shivers and all.
Try and cool yourself down by puting something cool on the inside of your wrist next to the vain. GFor example a glass of water, can coke, or even just something metal, like the metal on you chair or metal on a table in front of you place your wrist on that cool surface and it should cool you.
Tell yourself that the people/persons around you are the ones who should be embarrased, they are in their underwear, they just farted in public, they have toliet roll stuck out their pants.
Oh and well my fav is...don't ever wear warm clothes, wear thin light weight never thermal clothing and always take your coat off etc when you ever a room etc the cooler you are, the less likely you are to go all hot and flustered.
