I realise that Vegans don't eat anything which has come from an animal nor wear leather but are they allowed to wear wool? Eat Honey? Or have down sleeping bags? Always puzzled me that has!

i presume so as wool and honey are not a product of the death of an animal.

Saying that, I knew a vegan who wouldnt even eat veg unless it had committed suicide by falling from the tree or plant it was growing on so who knows

Ah, that would be a fruitarian then? I always thought that the true hard core fundamentalist vegans were against the farming of animals and so wool was meant to be off the menu so to speak.

Nope, veganism is not just about the death of animal. Eating dairy doesnt result in the death of a cow, its about animal exploitation. Honey has been a debated issue on vegan websites, some will, most wont/shouldn't.

Redcrx your mate was a fruitarian then, actually not so bad as you are definitely eating food that is in season.

Thanks for that link, I noticed it says they can't eat yeast?! Why on earth can't they eat yeast? I didn't think yeast came from animals, and that would in turn exclude alcohol which is just stupid! Who are these people, and would they drink human milk/ eat human cheese/ eat human chocolate etc?

I don't think animals that have just dropped down dead would be very pleasant at all miss random, we came across the festering corpses of 2 dead deer up at a bothy at the weekend and I would rather have eaten mud than them....

What about the vicious way that the veg is ripped out of the ground and skinned and boiled, how do they know they don't suffer? Veg is also exploited by being planted in neat rows and factory farmed on nitrogen enriched fields, utter cruelty.

They're a bunch of loony tunes who must be risking malnutrition, i mean your standard veggie has to work hard enough to ensure all nutrients are in their diet, how these nutters do not get rickets is beyond me!

It brings to mind that stupid bint Gillian McKeith who states "we are what we eat". Well I am a healthy combination of meat, muscle, fat, grissel, blood, offal and bone.

Whilst I do not gnaw on many bones (though I do make soup from Chicken bones) I am certainly more meat than veg.

I think ALL veggies (both lacto and the communist vegans)should be force fed black pudding as a punishment for being so bloody stupid.

i thought farmed animals were given drugs to make them produce more milk !
if that is the case, then surely milk would be off the menu...

bees die in the making of honey. im certain without doubt bees would be killed during the harvesting of the combed honey. (and during the gathering of honey dust !)

also, some drugs contain animal derived ingredients....
would they refuse medication ????

It make me sodding laugh that people go euww at breat milk wht do you think cows milk is? Breast milk is far far more natural for us to be drinking than cows, goats milk etc When I was breast feeding my kids, lots of nmy friends wanted to try it. Once one had they were all at. From an expressed bottle in the fridge I hasten to add.

Oh and as for looseheads answer, which I realise was in jest. The whole point of a fruitarian is eating fruit and veg that coes not kill the plant eg an apple can be picked but the tree still lives, a carrot cannot.

Wardy, I don't think the above ^^^^ is a fair statement to make against those whom so choose to become, or have been vegetarians from birth. Many of them become very ill from consuming animal products and seafood.
