I would say it was sorer than my belly button piercing but not as sore as my monroe piercing. It is over very quickly. Your tongue may swell a bit after and its a bit tricky eating and drinking for a few days after. My only advice would be to change the balls to plastic ones as soon as its safe as I broke a tooth on the metal ball when I was eating. Go for it!
I wasn't allowed any numbing spray, but it was done with so quickly. It didn't hurt, what actually hurt was when my tongue swelled up and kept cutting the thin flesh under my tongue. Eating was difficult for a few days, but soup and soft foods was fine. But it does take a good 5 days for the swelling to reduce. But I don't regret having it done!
The pain is short and sharp as you'll find they'll pierce it very quickly, you'll barely notice it! The thing that i found most uncomfortable is the swelling afterwards, came up around 6 or so hours after and my tongue had swollen up to the entire size of the bar by the first evening. It was never really painful, just a dull throb for the first couple of days. It was also a pest when i was trying to eat, i lived on soups and yoghurts until the swelling had gone down! Also until you're used to it, prob about a week, the bar will feel absolutely HUGE! Go for it as chances are you'll love it, just be prepared for it to take a bit of getting used to! x
I had mine done in Thailand about 18 months ago and they numbed it for me which was great so i didnt feel a thing! The swelling and not being able to eat is definately the worst part and you'll prob have a bit of trouble pronouncing your 'S's when you first have it done. Make sure you wash your mouth out with mouthwash about 3 or 4 times a day when you first have it done, i found that really helped. I also chipped a tooth on mine when i was eating, it was a couple of weeks after i had it done but i've not felt it since!
I love it, go for it but make sure you go to a clean place and check for sterile needles etc
Good luck!

I had mine done about 3 years ago and i recommend it to anyone, i even went with my sister to have hers done! It isn't pain that you feel its just the pressure of the bar going through, it doesn't hurt, it is a bit sore for a few days but nothing more than a tooth ache! The pain if really bad can be remied by a couple of paracetamol.
Go for it girl, boys love it! Trust me! x
