I just bought some lovely tulips and as soon as I put them in a vase they all drooped. I have snipped off the ends, put a small hole thru the top of the stem and some bicarb of soda in the water, which I just read in a magazine but they are still droopy and look very sorry for themselves. Help !!

if your method hasn't worked yet you could try wrapping them in newspaper up to their 'necks', secure with elastic band & stand them (again up to their necks) in water for few hours...
Golden rule with tulips - always plunge them up to their necks in water in a vase/jug before you unwrap/untie them from their bunch for a couple of hours before arranging them - then they don't flop. Don't ask me why this works but it does.

Thanks, I have now given up and thrown them away but will make a note for next time.
