How much fruit or veg is considered to be one portion for my five a day? Coz I had about 5 strawberries this morning... then in my wrap there was tomatoes and peppers and now I am having a cup of watercress soup which also contains leeks and potatoes! So I have eaten over 5... but I am sure none of them were good enough portion sizes!

I think as a rough rule a portion of veg is the amount you can hold in your hand. As for fruit, one piece of fruit ie banana, ornage, pear is one portion and for smaller fruit the same as for veg.

Ok thats not too bad then... so I am guessing my one cup of home made soup can be considered a portion? Looks like I will have to get eating the fruit that is on the bar at work!

Not yet... I had 4 small strawberries.. a chicken wrap.. and a small cup of watercress soup! Surely thats not too greedy?
im only kidding ....honest ,but i bet theres plenty of room left to munch on whats left on the bar !

We have loads of fruit here I could send you... Bananas, kiwis, strawberries, satsumas, peaches, apples, pears, grapes? Every day is like this. It's fantastic!

yep i think i shall but i work on a industrial est and all there is, is a mobile roach van so i shall have to see if i can escape in to town hmmm i can smell food
I've had a sausage and hash brown roll for breakfast, 3 cups of tea, right now some carrot soup with 2 cheese sarnies, with mayo and marmite on. not sure what i'll be having for my tea but will need to up the vitamin stakes with a multivitamin when I get home. Only take them when I feel run down but Ive had a cough for over a week.
im on my fourth cuppa ,have you taken some cough medicine skreech ?
Actually, 10 strawberries is 1 portion of fruit. As is 2 tomatoes, or 1 apple, or 1 orange, 2 satsumas, 12 grapes...

I've been trying those supermarket bags of stir-fry veg. Depending which ones you buy, half a pack can be 1 or 2 portions of your veg.

I ate a Baxters Healthy Choice veg soup the other day but I tend not to count that sort of veg in my daily allowance. Dunno why. I think it's because I assume the nutritional value just isn't there, which is the whole point of the exercise!

Government scientists recommend that each of us eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day, however they have not carried out any research to back this up, they just decided that that was the recommended amount .
Oh yeah and they omited to tell us just what 5 portions consists of
I tend not to take medicines unless I'm really ill Essexbloke. This thing is just a bit of bronchitis like stuff. I actually suspect it might be something to do with the pollen count but could equally just be a chest infection. i'm on the mend now though.

Oh my god! Skreech... I have exactly the same thing!!! I went to the doctors and he told me I have Viral Bronchitis but I have had a tickly cough for weeks and it's bugging me! My eyes have been a bit sore but thats it... normally when I get a cold my sinuses are the first thing to go! I think its hayfever!
