You do know the longer you leave it the worse it gets at the dentist?
Question Author
yeah, i know that and thats why i am scared and thats why i have finally decided to do it. thanks for your "words of encouragement"
Treat yourself to something special afterwards...
That way, you have something nice to look forward to for that day!

Also, tell the dentist, that you are terrified!
A good one will try and adjust his behaviour to you!

Good luck and let us know how it went!

thank you!! im so nervous!! i know i shouldnt have left it this long but time just sort of flew by and then suddenly i panicked about it!! didnt help that i slightly (barely noticable) chipped my tooth on saturday night, it suddenly brought home to me how bad not having a dentist was!!
but thank you for your message, it has made me feel better and i will plan some shopping in glasgow for afterwards... will hit new look and buy some pretty clothes !! xx
mrk errrr My old queen was like you but last month she had to go. And she couldn't believe how much dentists have changed she was watching tv while he was doing her teeth. And she hardly felt a thing if you have a good dentist he will put u at ease. Tell the dentist when you go in the room that you are terrified they will help you and they will explain the treatment you will need.
You will come out thinking what have i been putting my self through.
Best of look and keep us all informed
When I said the worse it gets, I didn`t mean pain wise

As every one says you will be fine. Dentists are very caring these days, its a doddle. You 'll wish you had never put off going.

xx
hi rom, i am terrified of flying so i understand where you're coming from. I put it off for years but i thought it was something i had to do if i ever wanted a holiday abroad. I flew in 2001 and i didnt enjoy it and we were away on september 11th so that didnt really help my fear either! lol I flew again last year and it was a great flight and went a fair way to easing my fear.
My point is, once you do it , you will maybe wonder what you were so scared of. I would agree that you must tell the dentist your fears, he will know how to handle the situation as im sure you are far from alone!
Good luck! Jules x

thanks Julie and baby jane
my best friend is terrified of flying aswell, its something thats never bothered me though, but i flew with her for the first time last august and i saw first hand how terrified she was.. i was in tears for her as she was so so scared!! its so real when you are so scared of something isn't it?
its like you said, i know when i come out i shall be relieved but i just want to fast forward to that point now!! thanks xxx
it wont be as bad as you think . i always think no work at the dentist will hurt as much as tooth ache .
good luck try not to think about it to much just think how happy you will feel when you have been xx
and rom, nothing pees me off more when people say " its ok, its safer that crossing the road" it is a real fear and it makes you feel sick at the thought of it. At one time i couldnt even watch them taking off on the telly!!! lol I just hate the take off and in 01 in ended up in tears as soon as it went up! I think i might be better next time now but its still not something i relish the thought of!
I do hope it all goes ok for you at the dentist, im sure it will be better than you imagine! X

thats kind of what i thought sleepy - i was getting stressed about getting toothache and not having a dentist to fix it (not had any problems with my teeth at all and never had a filling in my life) but i started panicking about it happening !!
and julie, i know, my friend gets annoyed at that, she was getting annoyed at my friends wanting to fly somewhere further away this year - they were saying "oh its only another hour on the plane" and she was pointing out "its another hour on something i am absolutly terrified of and another hour of me wanting to cry" !!!

Hello rom, Im scared of dentists but I do go every six months and I always come out feeling pleased with myself, I have had load of treatment in the past but its worth it and it doesnt hurt at all. I am also afraid of flying I have done a few long hauls in the past but now I wont even fly to Spain, I dont know why Ive suddenly developed this fear, but the thought of flying again leaves me with a sense of dread. Good luck at the dentist....you'll be fine.
