Asking this on behalf of a friend.
She has been told by her Doctor she has PID and that the reason she has it is because she has obviously had sex too fast and too hard!! or one of the 2! They have both been tested for STD's and the results came back clear.

I know you can have PID through other factors than an infected partner but have never heard of getting it because you've been at it too hard and fast with your partner!

Has anyone else? I told her to see a different doctor in future as I just didn't believe this but I stand to be corrected.

Thank you xx

I have to agree with you on the seeing another doctor bit!!! One of the most prolific causes of PID is untreated chlamydia [which shouldn't be a problem if she has tested clear for STD's]. Cycstitis [sp] and thrush can sometimes be brought on by 'hard and fast' sex, but I 've never heard of it causing PID! Maybe we'll both have to stand corrected though!

Utter nonsense. Good information about the causes of PID in women here:

http://www.cdc.gov/std/PID/STDFact-PID.htm#how get

Your friend would never be told her partner's results, by the way.

Thanx Ethel, I see what your saying, the Doctor didn't tell her the boyfriends results, her Boyfriend told her but I'm guessing you mean how do we know he hasn't lied to her and that this is why the Doctor has come to this conclusion? (sorry if I'm way off)

Thanx for the link too :o)

Thank you Lisa for your reply as well, glad I wasn't the only one to think it sounded odd :o)
rubbish,
some doctors are judgemental and old fashioned.

perhaps he/she was just being a bit prudish - especially if she is young

when i was 15 i kept getting pains in my chest - my doc sneered and asked me if i think about dying and death, and sit around being moody and wearing black - he had me down as a moody angst ridden teenager making it up for attention - turned out i had a piece of cartlidge slipped out of my ribs and was trapping a nerve and making it hard to breathe.
some can't get past their own personal views and be strictly professional.

i would see someone else and also do a bit of reading on the net.

Thanx for your reply joko, that's quite shocking glad you got it sorted eventually!

Have you thought that maybe your friend didnt want you to know she had an std but had to tell someone she had PID! Its in most circumstances easily cleared up with antibiotics. I am sure she will be just fine.

Hi Goodsoulette :o)

Thanx for your reply :o)
She is quite blantently honest with me (bit too much sometimes) I know she would tell me if she had as I think she would look to me to try to help her or just be there to talk to. She doesn't seem to be easily embaressed.
I understand it can be cleared up quite easily I was just wondering about her Doctor and what he had told her as I didn;t think it sounded right and think she should ask to see another one instead of him in furture.

Thanx everyone for your replies :o)
How old is she? If she is quite young then he is probably right. The younger you are the softer your cervix is, so the more sex you have and definitely the more parteners you have your chances of getting it increase.

You may wish to pass on that I have had this and have 2 very healthy babies and easily conceived pregnancies.
