carakeel eventually got a hospital bed!
18 Answers
She was told to phone up on Tuesday morning at 10.00 am to check if there was a bed available, she did so and was told to phone back at 12.00 as there was a bed shortage, now we are panicking as there is only one surgeon and one anaesthetist at the hospital that will perform her knee replacement as she has a habit of dying in operating rooms or soon after, so far they have managed to bring her back OK and we also know that the surgeon is going on yet another one month holiday. She duly phones back at 12.00 to be told that the bed is still unavailable and to phone back at 06.00 am!! (being today) we are both now really panicking, She has waited 15 years for this operation and is in constant pain and cannot walk without crutches. at 4.45 carakeel gets a phone call to say the bed is now available and to get to the hospital promptly!!! Fantastic!! But what a palaver!! She was so stressed, thinking she was going to miss her slot and then have to wait for 3 months, she really was shattered, she has suffered with this problem for so long!! But she is now safely ensconced within the hospital so we can only now be grateful it is going ahead this afternoon, all going well!!

Hello Ratter - isnt that just the typical NHS we have ?? Very frustrating for both of you - the hassle which you could have done without, but the outcome was pleasing and you must feel very relieved....wishing you both the very best and give Carakeel a hug from all of us here and a fast recovery, we are thinking of you!
Take care,
