OK Im waiting for my boyfriend to come home at the moment to take babyCRX to the GP but in the meantime

Ive just changed babys nappy and noticed he has a few pink/purple blotches on his lower legs.

weve all had a cold this week and hes still a bit snotty but acting as a normal toddler (22 months old)

Under glass test half of the blotches disappear but some dont.

Im taking him to GP in about 10 mins, just wondered if anyone knows of any rashes that dont disappear under glass

Taking him to the GP is definately is the best thing to do. Hate to say it but the only rash I know off that doesnt go under the glass when pressed is a form of menegitis. I really do hope this is the case, good luck at the docs, lets us know how little crx gets on :)
forget the gp. go straight to a&e, if it is something serious you could save vital time by already being in hospital rather than waiting at the doc's. hope everything is ok xXx
well you know I cant give any advice but to say but hope he's ok, Aunty 4getmenot will buy him ice - keem tomorrow. xx
I agree with posy, red. Go straight to A&E.

Hope it all goes ok. xx
if he is not showing any signs of being unwell , take to g p .
but could be meningitus, you dont always show signs of being ill
Sounds to me like a post viral rash especially as he has had a cold - like everyone says, it is best to be on the safe side, but does he have any other symptoms? Is he shying away from light, does he have a stiff neck, does he have a temperature? I think it depends on how hard you are pressing on the glass as well. I am not saying that it isn't anything serious, but in the absence of any other symptoms he is probably fine - have you tried NHS 24 - if they are concerned, they will get you an emergency appointment at A&E to save you hanging about - What about phoning the GP back as well?
Understand why you are so worried my Grandson had a cold then developed a rash similiar and of course my daughter was worried took him straight to A&E.It was put down to a mild virus infection with him having a cold l and cough.Hope everything will be ok.

quick update. GP checked him over and doubts meningitus. Has refferred us to A&E so just grabbing changing bag then off.

4get, will text u later xx
Mine have had post viral rash recently..they had fever & flu like symptoms followed by the rash which didn't pass the 'glass test' either.

Hoping all goes well, red..take care xxx
a&e is definately the best option, and always trust your own instincts it is true that a mother knows best, My son , now a healthy 10 years was admitted to hospital with suspected meningitus when he was 5 months old, he was discharged the next day with a chest infection, 4 days later he was readmitted as the doctor agreed with me that there was something wrong altho was definately not meningitus, 8 hours later there was a panic on the ward when the rash started popping up all over him, i was told later that it was the worst form of meningitus possible and if i had been at home he probably wouldn't have made it.
I really hope that every thing is ok with your little one redcrx but i strongly believe it is better safe than sorry

My son has a bad virus and came out in blotches all over which didnt disappear under glass. In fact the gp I saw said he looked as though he had meningitis but did not. Please try not to worry and let us know how things are. xx
My youngest had blotches that didn't disappear too,Dr sent him straight to hospital, turned out he had gastroenteritis .Hope everythings ok x
Just seen your thread redcrx sweetie and hoping things are ok. Hope the hosp. will keep a good eye on babycrx .
Any update as soon as you are able love , meantime thinking of you . Big hug . :-) xx
hi redcrx,
I cant believe that you managed to find the time to post on here when you were 'grabbing a bag and dashing out' If my child had to go to a #e I certainly would not even be thinking about answering threads on answerbank. But hey thats just my opinion.
Hope the babies fine now.
Errr..because she was waiting for her boyfriend to come and take her and little red to the GP..as is mentioned in her post.

Hope to see you soon, red :o)

thanks for you kind words dove. I was at PC because I was looking for pics on meningitis rashes as well as getting things together. perhaps Im just clever at multitasking as most mums are? Had baby CRX had any other signs of an illness then perhaps I wouldnt have been.
Question Author
for all others that replied and sent their best wishes, i didnt see them until i returned from hospital at 2am so didnt reply lol

Baby crx was checked by GP and told unlikely meningitis, we were sent to A&E (shouldve been paeds) and waited there before before transfered for blood tests in paeds.

Blood tests showed no sign of infection at all and after 8.5 hours we left for home.

There were a couple of things that came up during his tests so we do need to return in 2 weeks but baby CRX is fine and dandy with no infection and the blotches went by the time he got up saturday morning.
Glad to hear baby CRX is better and that it wasnt menigitis, hope nothing serious showed up though :)

nothing that Im panicking about just yet psychick as there were a few off things that occured that eve that suggest the odd test results were incorrect.
