Citizenship in schools
18 Answers
Being the liberal and law abiding intellectual I am, I have been offered a teaching post at a rather prestigious school to teach, moreover demonstrate, "Citizenship"
The money is fairly attractive, about 55 per hour for 10 hours a week, so would certainly assist my meagre pension!!!!
When I left school this subject area did not exist. We had "Developmental Studies" in Humanities but not citizenship. Does anybody have 11-18 year old pupil age children who can inform me of what I may be doing????
I will in due course be sent a syllabus/curriculum list, but only got the position through the old boys network and my relevant qualifications.
Further in public schools there is no requirement to have any teaching credentials, all I need in a full CRB check.
My second question is, does anybody know if DV clearance (Defence Vetting) which is still live, will count as CRB clearing??
I am mildly excited about the position.
I envisage this will move section when Ed returns.
Thank you, parents, for your anticipated answers.

Also, you will need a new CRB check, an enhanced one at that for each new post within any sort of education/care situation.
I wish you lots of luck with your new venture :)

Jobs and Education clearly! As for the course content, I suspect that you would have to teach them about being good citizens. Nto srue what kind of school it is that you're on about but the course title sounds like you'll have to try and prevent them from getting ASBO's and being good citizens really. As for CRB checks, you'll definately need a new one, even if you have one for a previous job, they are only valid at the time of printing as you could murder somebody the next day and it wouldn't show up on it.
cont... have a nosey here for some ideas, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the first attachment and possibly the 3rd too as you're in Key stage 3 & 4

The reason being that Citizenship must now be taught in all registered schools, including fee-paying ones. This is along with Religious Education and PT.
It is not just anti-chav lessons. It is RE, moral apptitude, health and fitness, Personal sex eduaction, civil right, human rights, consumer rights, family liasion,

I hope your curriculum is not similar to what I had at school, "Civics".
Taken by the headmaster hisself, in cap and gown, he actually put up diagrams of male and female genitals and explained with great dignity how they worked under various conditions. All rumours that the gym master and matron of ***** House would provide a demonstration proved hollow. Even as 12yr olds, nobody dared snigger in the face of nobility.
