Unfortunately
tiggertan, there are no magical remedies...it's really a case of management. Has your
m-i-l been recently diagnosed or, as we all are sometimes, is she just at the end of her tether?
I have fibro too, so I know how she feels....without being patronising, it's good that you want to help. So many people either think it's all in the head or that it can't be 'as bad as all that'. The best other people can do is to allow the person to have their bad days without any pressure.
I went to the pain management clinic, but to be honest they couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know. It's common sense really to pace yourself through the day. It's sooo easy to overdo it on a good day & then you spend 3 days getting over it. Better to stop while you're still feeling good. I love my garden but I take one tiny area & force myself to down tools when I've done it. Physiotherapy can help, it did with my back pain.
If sleeping is a problem, I've found that staying awake slightly later & waking early is the best thing for me. I feel better after 6 to 6 & half hrs uninterrupted than having 8 restless hrs.
erm, I could waffle on all day, lol....a sense of humour is vital....
There are so many sites now, these are a couple that I visit
