Current debate in t eh office: are over weight people warmer in cold conditions due to the insulating properties of fat? Or colder due to their greater surface area leading to higher heat loss?

insulation is one thing, but what about the higher metabolic rate due to carrying that weight around, e.g. how hot would you feel carrying 20Kg weight around for instance. I think fat people are definately warmer ... lucky, think how much money they save in winter coats

...but Iggy i thought a slow metabolic rate was one oftehfactors that contribute towards weight gain...? it really is a teaser eh?
I was definately warmer in winters when I was 2 stone heavier
