The Crying boy picture

Does anybody know of the origins of the legend behind the pictures of the crying boy? there is also a crying girl! I lived with each of them side by side in a pub i grew up in!! It was spooky

I don't know too much about it but i heard that people who had these pictures on their walls often ended up with their house on fire, and the legend of the pictures started. But i heard its because a chemical like kerosene was painted on the pictures leaving them vunerable to catching fire. Other than that i don't know too much but it maybe on wikipedia.

that link wouldnt work for me but as far as I am aware, there was a series of house fries when these were very popular. Apparently the only thing that really sirvived were these pics so people started chucking them. Oddly my nan still has one as does my ex mother in law type woman.

Creepy!! My gran had both the girl and boy pictures and got rid of them years ago!

thanks bonbon ewww just as scary, i remember we had a picture up of a young girl with dark hir kind of tied up, with it hanging over one shoulder, i think she looked dark skinned maybe spanish or italian may have had a flower in her hair and bare shoulders, i think EVERYONE had this picture in their lounge (must have been a serious shortage of decent artists round 30 odd years ago lol
