generally ibuprofen is stronger, it would be more effective as a painkiller than paracetamol
Question Author
they cost just about the same, dont they!
yep, own brand ibuprofen is good value!
cost same.
ibuprofen is an anti inflamtory and seems better for backache or toothaches.
asdas own pack of 10 of either around 30p

yeah they are cheap, I have Tesco own. I dont understand why people would buy the very expensive brands when theyre getting the same active ingredient!
Why pay 2 odd for panadol when the other less well known brands are so cheap?!
I think I know that its perfectly ok to take paracetamol and ibuprofen together (well, within minutes of each other).
I always find that ibuprofen does the trick for me now, especially if i feel lousy with a cold.
there is a difference between paracetamol and anti inflamatory pain killers.
ibruphen is a anti inflamatory med to reduce any inflamation and is effective on pains but can have a serious effect on the stomach such as stomach bleeds. "cuprofen 400" is good.
If you can not take those meds then take paracetamols
propain is brilliant and has saved me from years of miserable migraines.
But you should not ask this question on this site, check with your chemist or gp first.x
Depends on the type of pain as to which is better. You can also take them both together (again, worth speaking to a pharmacist before you do this as Ibuprofen isn't suitable for everyone) which can be very effective too.
Just read your last post filthiestfis - you don't need to wait a few mins between takin paracetemol and ibuprofen - you can just pop them down together. As a matter of interest it's worth taking ibuprofen after eating as if you take it on an empty stomach it can cause heartburn and other nasties.
Paracetamol stops the pain signals being sent and Ibuprofen stops inflamation....Ibuprofen must be taken with or after food and yes it does cause some nasty stomach based side effects.
you can take them together but my chemist advised especailly with small children that you take one and then 2 hours later take the other one. Alternating the doses and giving your more effect.
