My grandma really wants to know: Do birds slurp their worms? If not, how do they eat them?

Birds use a kind of "throw, catch and swallow" technique. When eating a worm, a bird throws it up in the air like a whip. It then catches it around half way down the length of the worm. Then the birds devours the worm in a series of swallows. There is only one bird in existence that can suck or slurp and that is the pigeon.
