vitamin c during pregnancy
In the short 5 weeks I have been pregnant, I have already suffered a 24 hour flu bug and a 12 hour stomach bug that gave me diarrhea and sickness. (Actually had both within two weeks of each other)
With the flu bug, I didnt even see the doctor even though I was that poorly I had asked for the doctor to come out and see me which I have never done (I also didnt know for sure I was pregnant). Well, he just called back two hours later and told me to pick up a prescription for some anti biotics and anti sickness tablets!
I was at the doctors again on Monday feeling very poorly and he told me to take 500 mg of vitamin c tablets. Fair enough. Ive since read that during pregnancy you should take no more than 60mg a day!! He told me to take 500 mg!!
So who should I listen to? Has anyone else....for a start picked up every bug going during early pregnancy......or been told to take such a high dosage of vitamin c?
Thanks in advance :)

I had the worst cold in my life when i was pregnant with my first, it was really awful, so i know how you feel. Its because your bodies immune sytem is lowered so your body doesnt reject your baby (or something like that). Hope you feel better soon and you could always call your midwife and ask her. xx
Ive been back to the docs and he has told me to stop taking it himself!
This is because of all the other things hes put me on! lol Ive now got something for the diarrhea, something for the sickness and something for the dehydration!
I couldnt actually call my midwife as I havent had my booking in appointment yet therefore have no contact for her. Thats all changed now though as my appoinment came through this morning!
Suddenly its starting to seem real!!! lol
