I recently got the implanon implant and I've been getting headaches (one of the unfortunate side effects). What my question is: if I take painkillers for my headache will the implanon still work as normal? The doctor told me that certain medication will prevent it from working, think she said epilepsy medication especially, however silly me forgot to ask her about painkillers etc

Also, is there anything else I should know about this implant?

Many thanks

Went on a cruise last year, very bad weather. Went to chemist for seasickness pills and condoms. He said , if it makes you sick why do you do it.
pain killers and common antibiotics should be fine. St Johns Wart will make it less effective. Whenever you buy a new drug check with the pharmacist.

Lots of women claim to have greater mood swings with the implant.
im interested to see what answers this gets as im considering having it next month!

I also read that st johns wort can make it less effective. I didnt see anything in the booklet the nurse gave me about painkillers though.
Headache tablets wont affect it all.
