went along to watch her, she is 5. the reception class sang a song which we were told had been altered in the last verse by one of the asian children in the (Catholic) school, the first two verses were very good, then when they sang the last verse the majority of people in the audience were a little stunned, they had changed the name Jesus to Allah!! It was a bit of a shock! Have you ever heard of such a thing?

tuppence I don't mean to offend, but this is not a (Catholic) school, as you yourself said the building may have been one day, but Catholic schools would never allow this, they are still partially voluntary funded by Catholics, they couldn't afford to make this shall we say unfortunate error?

Curiosity, they still teach the word of Christ. They still perform as a Catholic School.
Ok I did say my grandaughter is CofE which means she will be exempt from taking Holy Communion, but that does not stop her singing all the Catholic Hymns.
My point was about Allah.

I went to a catholic school. We did plays about other religions and cultures as part of a learning experience. We sang some of their songs and dressed up in traditional costumes. As I recall we loved it.

You were told it was going to happen so I don't the big problem here. In fact I'm kind of impressed with the kid who had the idea to alter the song and bring a slightly different perspective to it. Perhaps even noticed that there is a possibility that should a higher power exist it doesn't matter if we call it God or Allah.

I expect I'll be pixelly lynched for that but I really, really don't see the problem.

I like china doll a little more ever day. What is the big deal? One verse out of three showing some religious tolerance. Some of you lot get well p1ssy about the concept of muslim schools so why shouldnt a catholic school lead the way with acceptance. You cant tolerate one religion and not another.

My son who is 6 this year has learned all about Divali, Channukah and Rammadam (excuse probably poor spelling).

If there is a god, we are all worshipping the same one in our own different ways. Live and let live, lets not act all shocked when an asian girl sings about Allah. We don't need another generation of racists being brought up.

I am not religious but I really dont believe religion should be excluded from schools as kids will just be shocked when they get in the real world.
