Could someone please tell me, in a situation where a small child developed this syndrome as the result of being given too much aspirin, if the child needs to be given aspirin specifically for a viral disease (chickenpox, flu, etc) or could the child get Reye's syndrome if he was given aspirin for, say, back pain or headaches? What I'm trying to say is, does the syndrome NEED a virus as a means to affect the body?

Thanks for any answers! :)
