The art of make-up
32 Answers
I realised this morning that I spend a lot of time and money on buying the right make-up and beauty products, just so that I can apply my make-up perfectly to give me a flawless, natural look. It literally is an art form in its own right!!
I'm very lucky in that I can wear a lot of make-up but look like i'm hardly wearing any.
Does anybody else go to the same lengths to look like a natural beauty?
It's not the same look when you have no make-up on. It's capturing that 'glow' that you sometimes get naturally and recreating it with make-up.

However, I do use a Dove bar 'cos it doesn't dry my skin out. I have always used a moisturiser morning and night and after washing my face, whatever time of day. I also use a moisturiser with a sun protection factor.
Your mate could have her eyelashes dyed. I have just discovered that this makes a lot of difference. It only costs a little.

Thing is, I look fine without make-up. Although I'm blonde so I can look a bit featureless. I get my eyebrows tinted brown otherwise they just don't show up!! I've given up on dying my eyelashes though. I still needed mascara to thicken them so didn't see the point anymore.
I actually have to admit though that i'm spending a lot more time on my appearance since becoming single again. My friends commented on it, saying it was like "having the old Chrissy back". Just before my break-up I realised that I was spending a lot more time in jeans and trainers with no make-up. I was making an effort on my nights out, but even then it wasn't much of an effort!!
So now I'm trying to be glamorous by day and even more glam by night.
And I do look different from day to night. Evening make-up consists of eyeliner or a liquid liner, with eyeshadow colours of my choice (faves being a glittery silver or an emerald green), thickening mascara and lip gloss rather than lip balm. Plus my hairstyle & clothing changes.

I actually think wearing makeup everyday is better for your skin that not wearing any at all. At least when you wear makeup you fill your pores with a clean substance and not all those horrible pollutants from car exhausts etc. I hate the feeling I get when not wearing make-up, i just feel as though my skin is dirty!
I adore make-up and have drawers full of it! I don't feel like me without it. I love laying with all the lotions and potions: I don't think there's anything I don't have one of.
The make-up I wore when I was younger was a lot more obvious than what I wear now, but (I think) it looks a lot more natural now (and the longer I spend on it- weird that!).
My skin is good naturally, but there's nothing like wearing a great foundation to make you feel flawless. Oh, and I've never had a tide-mark in all my life!
My look is more natural during the day so when I get dressed up to go out, I'll change the colours I use on my eyes and lips.
My mum is a natural beauty (unfortunately, I look like my dad!), but no matter what anyone says, she looks more beautiful when she has her (natural looking) make-up done. The only thing I wory about is having grand-children remember me by the smell of face powder... like we do with my nan, LOL! :o)

I only wear make up for a night out or a special occasion and when I do wear it, it is very little..........eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick and a little bit of concealer where needed.
I spend very little moneywise on eyeshadow and concealer but I do prefer the more expensive mascaras and lipsticks. I have very fine eyelashes so now use the two part masacaras and as lipstsicks never seem to stay on more than 5 minutes, I have found the lipfinity range does work for me.

Aw, whiskey, that made lovely reading!
I'm glad you feel the same way as me. I was always a tomboy when I was younger and I still have an element of a 'ladette' still in me, so wearing make-up and girl-clothes is the closest I ever get to feeling feminine and like a lady. I love it!
I have great skin with or without make-up which is completely blemish free. I've always had compliments on it, but it doesn't mean I don't have to wear make-up. My beauty and make-up regime is my way of pampering myself so I leave the house feeling beautiful and glamorous. It's not caked on though, so it's far from fake. (except my recent hair incident of course which makes me look like barbie! I'm tempted to shave it all off!!)
