spider bites

do you know anything about spider bites

I've been bitten by a house spider in GB. Hurt like hell when I was bitten but there was no other reaction. My husband was bitten by a tarantula in Costa Rica and had nasty fang marks but I cleaned them thoroughly and kept them clean with antiseptic and they healed well enough. Obviously venom not strong enough to harm him. What sort of spider?
