Do different religions, christian and muslim for example, believe in the same god but disagree in the way that they worship or do they believe that they worship the only true god and that other religions worship a false god?

there is a suprising amount of common ground when it comes to the personnel, but a great deal of dispute as to their roles and significance. there was a program recently examining the common ground between islam and christian based religions, abraham being common to both but which one of his sons, ishmael or isaac, has the greater significance is a dividing point. but i don't think the differences should be regarded as negative factors, the wider the discussion the better. from what i can see, the factor that all religions have in common is compassion for our fellow man and as a buddhist i hold that value very dear while not believing in a god at all.
A fundamentalist is a person who believes that their religion is the only truth and that their version of God is the only true God and that all other beliefs are worship of false gods. But not all religious people are fundamentalists; there are plenty of modern, liberal religious believers who would say that it doesn't matter whether you call God God, Allah, Vishnu or whatever, let's all just live and let live.
Based on what Jesus said in the gospel of John 14v.6, my personal belief is that it is only through Jesus that you can genuinely have access to God. Having said that I have met both Muslims & Christians who would disagree with me and believe we all serve the same God differently.
