Hospital Policy ?

Hello!

Out of curiosity~ does anyone know whether Doctors, Nurses and Midwifes are allowed to wear make up ? I know it is a strange question but I noticed that none of them seemed to be wearing it when I was visiting my grandmother last night.

There is no policy against Doctors, Nurses or Midwives wearing make-up.

It's personal choice.

Also. Depending on how late at night you were visiting... the night staff may not feel it's entirely necessary.

If I ever get to hospital and find that the doctor/nurse saving my life isn't fully made up I will seriously kickoff...

...although, you have to question what the point of a made up face is when you're covered in blood/sick/urine/**** throughout much of the day!

The policy of the NHS trust I work for is that staff in clinical areas can wear make up if they want to, but not nail varnish false nails or false eyelashes.

At the hospital I work at, the ward sister in charge of our stroke unit decided to have a go at some of my physiotherapy colleagues, telling them that if they wore more make-up, it might provide more incentive for the patients to get more mobile!

my mum always wore make-up when she was a nurse , this was 1946, she was 18:

My brother-in-laws sister has just qualified as a midwife and they are not allowed to wear make up. Not sure about the doctors and nurses though.

My mum wears make up, shes a midwife. It looks very natural though, some of the midwives she works with look like they are about to ermmm,....... shoot a porno!
