Superdrug is setting up clinics that people can drop-in to in order to get that perfect smile. The chain has reportedly found a gap in the market private dentists are extremely costly and NHS dentists are increasingly hard to find. The service they will offer will be a tooth whitening one which will cost around 350 and take around 80 minutes. What do you think? Is this potentially dangerous? Or is this the perfect way for us mere mortals to get a whiter than white smile?

Many people do this and pay more (500-1,000) so why not. Lots of people part with lots of cash for the sake of vanity, so if there is a market for this service they might as well offer it.
I heard that the whitening can affect the gums quite badly but haven't really read the hard evidence. What happened to good old cleaning and ditch the coffee and fags?
Do they offer this service While-u-Wait?
The sunbed parlour that i go to sometimes has just started doing this as well for 350 so no doubt dentists will drill down thier prices too
Its obviously a gap that needs filling.
groan!!

seriously, i don't see owt wrong with it. It can't be too bad for you or they wouldn't do it, surely? Not in this day and age where people sue other people over nothing! if a big chain like superdrug can afford to offer the customer what they want more cheaply than a dentist, then they should!
A couple of hair salons in my area already offer this service, not sure how much it costs though.
