Obtaining a Decent Solicitor

Reading these posts is certainly interesting and in some cases a real eye-opener. A few people enter mitigating circumstances for consideration. Those with some evident legal knowledge and background recommend employing a decent solicitor/legal representation as opposed to the local (and potentially damaging) solicitor who happens to be knocking around.

Therefore, how do you know who is and who isn't a good solicitor, assuming that you have no legal knowledge, idea of local solicitors, or ability to call on someone who 'may know one', and find yourself in a situation where you require one ASAP?

(P.S. I'm not in that situation nor do I ever hope to be - fingers crossed).

Thanks In Advance :-)

Solicitors who act as duty solicitors in court / police stations usually know their way round the system very well
I don't suppose you really do know for certain who is good and who isn't. Lawyers, like builders, or any other tradesman or professional, are only human and will have good days and bad days. Word of mouth is also an influencing factor in choosing representation.

The law society will be able to put you in contact with 'experts' of various chosen legal fields e.g. criminal law or family law. All solicitors though are regulated by the law society/law society of Scotland though. So all have had to go through various stages of training and pass many exams. Also, they are insured against the consequences of giving poor advice/representation.

So there are no guarantees but the public can take some comfort in knowing that their solicitor is regulated and deemed to be competent at worst, expert at best.
Maybe you should have a look at this web site

the part where it says justice or just us, by Joe dowling.
What is the quote we are only human, we are still accountable for our actions, we have a brain, so we can decide how to behave.

As for a decent solicitor, if we made the good causes, the effect is a decent lawyer.

Please look up the Lotus Sutra by Burton Watson, his English version is the best, there are 28chapters, the 2nd and 16th chapter is the heart of it, it show a better path to take for our lives.
Solicitors are very smart peoples, they know the system very well,If you are in some trouble of court you can take help from them.
