To Facebook or not to Facebook

That is the question! I'm torn..
I'm probably in the minority when I say I'm not on Facebook...the argument if i get an account I can keep in touch with people I've lost touch with etc and could be a bit of fun BUT I'm not entirely sure its all it seems...whats the general consensus peeps?

I'm always getting these emails saying so-and-so has just joined Facebook and wants to be your friend or whatever. Sometimes it's Facebook, sometimes it's another site. For example an email saying so-and-so wants to add you to their birthday calendar.
It's always someone who has me in their address book, but typically hasn't emailed in 2 years!
I never bother registering with whichever site is flavour of the day, but I do send an email to that person if I want to keep in touch.
I don't have time to spend all day talking to people on websites, I'd rather spend time and have friends in the real world.

I've got an account, it's good for keeping in touch with everyone I wouldn't otherwise keep in touch with, and it's something to do to pass the time if you're bored and on the internet. It's also safe in terms of who sees your account. This is because the only people who can see any of your details are the people on your friends list, who you have to confirm as friends first.
So go ahead, facebook!
