if i hear 'hi ho silver lining' I am transported back to Northallerton High street and the May Fair, with the noise and the smell of the generators. I think they only had one record (not tape or CD!!!) 'cos the tune would follow me the length of the street.
I was young and fairs were exciting ....hi ho!!

Songs like this remind me of my first school dance when I was about thirteen. (1958)
I wore short trousers and the girls would not dance with me. Took ages to persuade parents to get me long trousers. Louis's Manchester.

One of my heroes. Charles Hardin Holley, born Lubbock Texas 1936.
His name was spelt wrong on his first contract so he stuck with " Holly" Interesting eh?
Saw Buddy in manchester a few years ago Great. Cant think on many singers to-day who will last as long. Just think, he died 18 months after his first hit, Inbloodycredible.

Hi Doc, after I posted that , I remembered going out with a teddy boy. Not an original one, someone that just really liked that era, he use to turn up on a motorbike with the hair brylcreamed back! He was a fantastic dancer, he could stop everything on the dancefloor, trouble was, he knew it! I would just sit and watch him, he was really good, but he loved the adoration lol!!!!! Never knew that about Buddys real name!
