Grrr! How rude!

Would you say this is rude?

There is a guy here at work, he doesn't actually work for this company but runs his own business from a little office upstairs. He uses our kitchen and our food for lunch (bought by our company). When he makes his lunch he doesn't bother cleaning up after himself, leaving crumbs everywhere, pickle on the work tops, bits of cheese lying around etc. and he doesn't was up cutlery/plates he has used.
As there are only 2 women working here, it's sort of an unwritten rule that we do the washing up and I explained to this guy that its not fair on us that he does this. We shouldn't have to clean up after him, wipe up his mess etc, especially as he isn't a part of the company.
He then gets all defensive, saying that I'm a typical woman for moaning about it and pretty much makes me look a joke. I'm busy enough as it is, without having to be nanny to full grown men.
Am I making too much of this or is he just being plain rude?? :(

No, I wouldn't wash up just because I was a woman either. I suggest you stop, only wash up things you want to use before you use them. No way should you be clearing up after people so stop doing it. Make a complaint to your management about the way that man spoke to you aswell.

Does he get official use of your kitchen, if not then put a lock on the door and only give keys to bona fida pps. Or only buy food that you all need for your lunch etc. He sounds a real ar** h**e.

I found myself in a similar situation when my office had to share a kitchen with another office. When he has used his plate, cup etc and left them in the sink or kitchen take them back to him either leave them there or tell him 'you have left something', then walk away. Then when the next bill/invoice for food comes in pass it on to him saying 'your turn to pay for this' Hope this helps

Yes,he is being rude.I hate wwhen people say typical male,it's not typical ,anymore than its a woman's job.
Whoever gets to use the facilities should either wash up or explain why they cant at the time, but please try not to bring the sexes into it.

just take all his mess and dirty plates etc up stairs and pile them on his desk. Do not speak or discuss anything with him, just dump them right on top. Do that each day until he learns. It won't take long, don't let him treat you like a doormat.

He is basically one of the boss' best mates, so he can get away with pretty much anything! Most of the time he's a nice guy, but when it comes to this he turns into a t*at.
I'm actually leaving the company soon, its the most unprofessional, dirty place I've ever been.
Nobody is given contracts so I can't argue that something is not in my job description etc.

Thank you for the offers to kick him in the *****, would you be willing to do it to the rest of the men too? Pleeeeaaase? :D

wait for him to take his used stuff in to the kitchen then take it out & follow him to his office & dump it on his desk. its like that old thing where you show & dog its dodo to train it. lol

your not a cleaner...i take it thats not in your job description.
Dont clean up any more...although i dont like mess myself but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and put up with his nonsense for a while untill he realises you mean buisness.
i can imagine its getting on your nerves but by ' making it an unwritten rule' you kind of made this your problem...if you get what i mean..... i personally wouldnt clean up after him any more....just my own stuff :0

If he has his own plates , cups , etc don't wash them throw them in the bin and just use your own stuff , or you take in a packed lunch and just leave the mess he'll soon get the message !! This happened in my last job , it was a huge work force so had a fridge cleaning rota , it was binned if you didn't remove it , one guy left a dirty plate in the fridge so it was dumped , his wife went ape as it was part of a set !! We used to stick a note on the fridge so it was there choice . What's this guys home like !!!!

I hope the folk that made those comments have to clean up other peoples sh1t for eternity after remarks like that. I was going to give some decent advice but I'm not going to waste my breath, you obviously deserve to be treated like sh1t with an attitude like that. Why don't you go have a kid and get a long paid holiday?

you could try leaving only mouldy icky yucky stuff in the kitchen for him (warn everyone else) and keep all your own food in cool bags or whatever in your office for a couple of days and he'll have nothing to make a mess with and might get fed up going into the kitchen

or send weeal round to karate chop him lol
