dentist injections

whenever i have to have a filling at the dentist i never have the injection, are their any others the same

...I used to be a dental assistant, and depending on the type of filling you need, e.g the depth or if the tooth has had a root canal etc. you don't need to have it numbed.... I have had several buccal fillings done without injections......

i once had an injection which hit my optic nerve...couldnt leave the surgery until it wore off, was mega pi$$ed off, not to mention a bit blurred

I don't have injections, either. I'd rather put up with a few seconds of (albeit intense!) pain, than have a numb mouth for hours.

Ive have had fillings with no injection my dentist looked at me funny when i said i don't want the injection i told him the injection hurt more than the filling.
On the odd occasion he said he would have to numb me even though i asked him not too. This must be like ermintrude says it must depend on the filling..

I had root canal without an injection and i wouldn't recommend it.

Injection for me everytime......gina32....be careful...if the nerve is hit it is painful believe me.

i've had three shots before i allowed the dentist to do an extraction.

...society, an extraction without anasthetici is unadvisable!...lol


the reason most people find the injection painfull is not infact the needle going in , but rather the force of the cold anasthetic entering the body..... the dentist I worked for specialised in nervous patients..... the trick is to allow the anasthetic to reach body tempreature, and to very very very slowly depress the syringe ....most dentists these days are factorys where a person is anethatised in seconds and shoved into the waiting room while another person gets a check up......

...I know what shots are lol.... what i meant was a dentist would never attempt an extraction without shots, wether you "allowed" him or not....

it has been written on my dental files that i dont want an injection. i dont mind the drilling or the actually filling, it doesnt bother me
