Just been reading that all domestic lightbulbs are to be banned in favour of low-energy (green) ones by 2011. If I start now, I should be able to collect enough candles to last me a lifetime, and it'll work out even cheaper than the lower amount of electricity which we'll all be expected to use - but what if they ban candles as well?

oh they might ban candles...after all they DO SMOKE
NO dont do it my fair maiden, if you do that there will not be enough wax left in the country to make another waxwork model of comilla (well you know who I mean prince charleys bride) when the one they done the other day has faded and worn out
can you make a candle out of earwax?
lol cazzz you would set fire to your hair silly
All these low energy gizzmos in my opinion are just another way for us folk to pay more and more, do the government have shares in these companies because how can we the general public believe anything when in the USA they are sending rockets up into space willy nilly. This one yesterday must have put more toxics into the atmosphere than millions of light bulbs.

Hi pussnboots I am not serious on here very often but for once on here I am, I tottaly and utterley agree with you
You are barely coherent on here very often.
whiffey, is that barely or bearly lol
But I must admit many a few years ago we was in florida and saw the space shuttle lift of and that was one hell of an experiance, a once in a lifetime and it was so awsome you had to be there to believe what it is like but how did it all come about.
I know this might sound a bit crazy (well I have had a few beers) but if there is a hole in the ozonie layer why cant we send up a great big umbrella in space (in theory of course) to fix it.
Simple in theory but not sure in practice but why has nobody ever thought of that before.

Right I have to lay down now as it is time for my medication.
Sorry I have to disagree with beads...I have bulbs- GE or Pillips-that only cost about 2 and I have had them in both lamps and ceiling fixtures, they have lasted about 18 months so far. and they give off very good, bright light.
IKEA sell they bulbs for around a pound
but weeal - Ikea is a nightmare! :(
yeah its a horrible shop, last time I was in was about 2 years ago and I got lost in there for a bit
I went there once Weeal and it was horrid - I agree. I heard someone shouting in a panicked fashion ''How do I get out of here''! there were quite a few stressed looking people. Wouldn't go again...I'll get have to be ripped off when the cruddy light bulbs come into effect!
Good old NETTO are selling these bulbs for 79p. Bargain !!

Thanks for all your replies - but I laughed my head off at nonuts's suggestion about the waxwork of Camilla. My...the effigy'd sure burn well though, wouldn't it?
I have one of those low energy bulbs in my hall and i don't like it , it gives off a horrible yellow glow. But i suppose if they're better for the environment.......
