oral pill/anti biotics
7 Answers
A question for the ladies, what is the usual thing to do when being on anti biotics and finishing the pill to have a 7 day break a couple of days after finishing the anti biotics? Is it go straight on to the next pack and use another method of contraception (if so, how long for)?

Tat is right about the need alternative methods of contraception during the time you take the antibiotics and for a week after. This is because antibiotics kill the friendly bacteria that our bodies need in order to abosorb female hormone over the gut wall. You should ALSO ensure that you do not have your usual seven day break, but instead go straight onto the next pack of your regular contraceptive. You are unlikely to have a period but this will do you no harm. Some irregularity and spotting may be noticed, but this is nothing to be alarmed about.
For reasurance, read your patient infrmation leaflet or visit your local chemist.
