this came to mind after reading the question below re gay children....it appears that it is far more widely acceptable to be lesbian and gay guys are more likely to be frowned upon (particularly so i think with straight guys) why is this??

Because the men you mean have wonderful air-brushed fantasies about 'lipstick lesbians' they see in pornographic magazines and movies. It turns them on, and I have been told that this is because women are soft and gentle creatures..lol.

Straight men may feel threatened by the idea of gay sex between men. A ''Don't look at me!!!'' attitude? I think they have the idea that a gay bloke would instantly want to rip their pants off.

Of course reality is totally different ;o)
A lot of the time I think people don't really believe lesbians are lesbians, especially young ones. I think there's very much an attitude that if someone's a lesbian it is just a phase, or once they meet the right man they'll 'turn'.
That is very true, tiny.

I think there are a lot of men who think they can 'cure' a lesbian!
IMO most blokes who are homophobic have something to hide and i agree with Pippa, most gay men are fussy lol.

Personally I dont give a toss what peoples sexuality is, if they are ok as a person thats good enough for me.
Most "lesbians" that I have , erm, encountered, are just doing it for attention ie. in nightclubs and the like. But I agree that men are terrified of gay men - it's as if they are convinced that the gay man will instantly fancy them. Makes me laugh.
I shared a flat with a gay guy for 18 months it was great, never had a cross word.

Lesbian in nightclubs i term as drunk birds who dont know what they are doing lol

I think I have told this story before....

A mate of mine (female) had invited her gay male friend round for dinner..he was actually her ex boyfriend, but that is another thread, lol.

Anyway, my mate also had a male lodger ~ who liked to walk around the flat bare chested. He walked into the lounge in his usual bare chested manner, spotted the gay guy and turned onn his heels ~ went back into the bedroom, coming out a minute later in his t shirt.

The gay mate was obviously used to this kind of behaviour, and as my mate laughed hysterically he said to the straight guy:

''Don't flatter yourself, love ~ I would rather sh4g HER!!''
But surely snogging another woman in a nightclub for attention isn't the same as being a lesbian? Therefore those women you've encountered aren't lesbians, they have just kissed a girl. Most actual lesbians wouldn't dream of snogging eachother just for attention as the reason this is usually done is to get male attention which lesbians are not interested in.

I think most gay men (certainly the ones i know anyway) will have encountered every rash and panic-stricken comment known to mankind. It's the wild-eyed look of terror that gets me, though.
The "oh. You're a gay" thought process.
As I have said before I have nothing whatsoever against gaylords or ladies. The gay men I know are healthy, hard working capitalists who contribute more to Great Britain than the vast majority. They choice of same sex relationship is as much concern to me as no doubt my hetrosexual relationships are to them. There really is no issue.

However, I despise bisexual people with a passion. To have it both ways in my opinion puts sex before anything else. Bisexuals are perverted, twisted sex maniacs. God made us gay or straight, in the same way he made us good or bad. Those in between ride the astral flight around limbo in the afterlife.

I also think my opinion stems from a dislike of indecision. I hate people faffing around and umming and arrrrring. Be decisive!!!!! Bi sexuals just can not decide. They will sleep with anything with a pulse just to fulfill their perverted lust.

This is a journalistic nightmare concerning Mr Bowie's bisexuality.

Angie Barnet (his first wife) was openly bi. It has been evidenced that she had other men with Davids consent. At the time (1970-2) he denied being anything BUT straight. In 1972, at the height of Ziggy mania, NME run the headline "I'm Gay" following an interview with him. This in turn instantly made him a gay icon and with 10 percent of the population estimated to be gay, made him a global superstar literally over night.

With in a few months he refuted this, but the press was not interested. And he couldn't have cared less. During this period, he had near enough broken up with Angie and was dating Ava Cherry.

There has never been a man come forward saying he has slept with Bowie or any evidence whatsoever. Assuming the man is worth half a billion, I am sure there would be a few stories.

However, come 1991 when he was firmly engaged to Iman, he publically said at the Freddie Mercury Tribute gig "We slept with a lot of the same people". If you watch this there is a cheeky glint in his eye and given the fact Freddie was a proper gaylord, and the whole aura of the occassion, journalists did not really pick up on this.

So to answer your question, Mr Bowie, to the best of my knowledge and belief, has never had bum fun.

Evidence of a weird sexual nature has only come from two sources.

1) 1987, a report from some Dallas bird that he raped her after a a night out. It now appears she is a crack wh0re desperate for attention

2) 1974 (he most coked out phase) a report from a Philladelphia woman that he made her take a 10 minute cold shower and act dead so he could act of a fantasy of necrophilia. Who knows?? Drugs screw your mind up.

Yes Tiny, that's what I meant, "lesbians" ie. not actual lesbians.
gasp...pant..bl00dy trains............or I'd have been here ages ago

Many, many chaps I have encountered are very condescending in their manner to me - all you need is a good man/[email protected],
When I have firmlt disabused them of this notion, that I'm not actually pretending/striking a pose/going through a phase, a surprising number become very hostile and start asking quite astonishing questions...........
Straight women are usually laid back (please read no more into this phrase !) about it and are quite quick to list the benefits I must gain by NOT having a bloke in my life..........:o)

Anyway, I'm off now to read the other threads that seem to have cropped up since I have been away.........
Wardy, I cannot produce a quote on this however I once read an interview with Sir David where he told the interviewer that as a teenager he had another teen boy in his bedroom who he ''neatly f*****d''

Maybe it was a big fat lie, or maybe an experimental boyish phase..I don't know. In any case, we don't care do we? ;o)
i hope that in this day and age it is acceptable to be gay straight or lesbian

i would worry far more about a child coming home and telling me they had aids or cancer or something i couldnt help them with, rather than tell me they are gay.

sadly even in today's day and age i dont think gays or lesbians always have it easy in life

maybe today should be the day i come out the closet....don't tell anyone but I am a HETROSEXUAL

Pippster that was in the NME interview I said. (It may have been Melody Maker, I am not sure come to think of it)
