A friend of mine came to me at the weekend to say that she had unprotected sex 3 times the week after her period. She now wonders if she is pregnant and says its driving her mad. She wouldnt mind if she was be says that she is going out of her mind not knowing and having to wait over 2 weeks to do a test.

She says that she is constantly aware of things around her, what she is eating and drinking just in case.

If feel for her I really do and to all you women out their in a similar situation.

Roll on the day they invest a pregnancy test you can take a couple of days after sex and not have to rely on your cycle.

Anyone else been in this situation?

Some tests can be taken 4 days before period is due, but ar only 50% accurate.

If there was a test to tell a week after having sex (it couldnt be straight after as it can take a few days to implant) then i think there would be a lot of heartbreak out there as many pregnancies miscarry before a period is due and the women never realises she was pregnant.

Im afraid your friend is just going to have to wait to see. It must be awful for those who are desperatelely trying month on month. At least she is taking care of what she eats and drinks. is she taking folic acid already?

I asked her that and she said no because her and her partner are no exactly trying at the moment!
yes but if she now thinks she could be pregnant then she should start taking them until she finds out. Its a bit different to not trying and then finding out you are by surprise.
I agree with red, if she starts taking the folic acid but finds out she isnt pregnant, she can stop taking them, theyre not doing her any harm at all.
If theyre not exactly trying at the moment and she is pregnant, how are they going to take the news? Sorry, but if it isnt wanted right now, they really should be using protection!

To be fair they have said, and we have had discussion that they are going to start trying after Xmas so I dont think that she is overly worried if she is pregnant.

They just have a few things planned at the moment and wanted to get them out of the way first, but none of what they have planned will be a problem if she is pregnant.

Im sure they would be happy if it turns out that way.

I'll mention to her about the Folic suppliments.
You are advised to take Folic acid 3 months before trying to conceive, so she might as well start it now anyway.
