I had a horrendous dream last night, does anyone else suffer?

I woke up this morning dreaming VERY clearly:
I was on a cruise ship where there were also loads os soldiers(!) and one went berserk and in front of me, started to hack peoples heads off and dismember them by slicing off their limbs.
There was blood everywhere and dead bodies all mangled.
I went to get help and ended up in the restuarant where i sat down with my friends and had a cake!!!!
I went back to find a foot from a dead person walking around the ship and then re-attaching itself to its body.
We then headed back to reception when from a few floors up, blood started to drip onto me, fresh from the axe murderer,
we all tiptoed to reception, i closed the door behind us, and my alarm went off.
I had no alcohol last nite, did my exercise class, ate a normal meal but i am feeling a bit on the stressed/depressed side at work,
any ideas? this is only one of many, and at least 4 times a week i have awful dreams!!!
thanks, dolly

My ex-husband used to have dreams like this, except they were memories, not dreams, sadly. He was in the Army.
I used to have terrible dreams for about 15 years where I had forgotten about my horse and left him in the stable to starve (in real life I'd had to sell him because we couldn't afford him :o( ) . I rescued a horse last year and the dreams stopped instantly.
I think my subconscious was trying to tell me that there was a part of my life which was locked away, forgotten, slowly killing me. And when I found that part of myself again (my love of horses) it stopped, along with all my neuroses and most of my problems. :o)

From an analytical point of view, it may suggest that by having cake with your friends while absolute horror is happening all around, your burying your head in the sand about some issues in real life. Maybe that your avoiding dealing with a particular issue.
The foot attaching itself to the dead person (was that right?) would suggest that thing are spiralling out of your control.
These may not have anything to do with work, but as you say you are stressed at work it may cause your subconcious mind to face issues in dreams These are the first things that would spring to my mind as an unexperienced dream analyser.
I might suggest also laying off horror movies?!
