my girlfriend has just been sold an automatic car (peugeot 206cc). bearing in mind she was looking for a 206 cc but never driven an automatic ,I think she's off her head any feedback would be grateful.
I've got a 2ltr Mondeo petrol automatic which returns just over 34mpg on mixed motoring. Autos are great for town driving.. Just tell her to keep her left foot tucked out of the way and to select neutral and apply handbrake at traffic lights.
Only driven automatics when they're hired, and i love them. Can be just as nippy, and if you're feeling adventurous left foot braking (ala go-karts) can be exciting, but mad and i wouldn't for one second suggest it's a good idea ;-)
I have been driving autos since 1973, passed my test in a mini GT auto in 1974, I have driven a Ford mach1, a scimitar, a Jensen, a XJ6, a corsair, and several more, currently driving a purgeot 306, never got bored yet!"
I drive auto lorries and buses for a living but would never have an auto car.
I hate that awful droning sound as the revs rise on acceleration and drop back down again.
