Depressing Work

I need to know if I am just a total wimp or not.
Ive been temping since April as I gave a job up this year due to all the 'youngsters' arguing all the time in the office.
Ive been a month in Social Work child protection which really depressed me, taking minutes in their meetings etc and seeing what a mess some parts of society is in.
Got out of that a week ago, was ill all week with a rotten cold as I hadnt had time off since March.
NOW Im in a new temp job today and its mental health, depressing stuff yet again. I dont think I can stand any more doom and gloom. Its like sad stuff from half 8 till teatime and I cant seem to escape it, its bringing me down.
I need some TLC.

Hello everyone, came into this convo a little late, with a genuine interest in what weeal was saying-however I see it's degenerated into filth...love it *lol*!

weeal, I understand how depressing that kind of work is; I am a youth worker, but haven't seen much of the seriously bad that life throws at people yet; although it's only a matter of time! I have seen case reports etc. which did upset me. You need quite a thick skin, and I know it's hard but I suppose also a sense of detachment (says the girl who, like cruella, never switches off!).
If you aren't hppy, you need to move on-it sounds like you are very good at what you do, so you'll soon be snapped up again. I can't imagine the agency having a problem finding somewhere more suitable for you :) Lots of luck, le tus know how it goes! x

weeal, you are right-it is heavy stuff, and although if you are working face to face with the people there is some reward, dealing only with notes and paperwork must mean you see far more bad than good. I love my job, but it's a lot of emotional investment. But that's a choice I make; as a temp, you can choose not to be in that situation love. I hope they move you promptly into something you prefer :) X

I have had to sit in meetings with problem families and found it uncomfortable, but also seeing files (in my own locale) wasnt fun, some of the people I knew. Not a good idea.
