Winavi vs DVDFlick vs Nero

Before I throw my computer out the window please help!! I want to convert an avi which is 45 mins long to burn to DVD to watch on my DVD player.

I have tried DVDFlick and gave up after 2 hours as it seemed to get stuck whilst finalising ... it just kept on saying "Detecting Write ... something or other!" Am I being impatient or does the whole process really take longer than 2 hours?!

I now have my files coverted to VOB's though (from using DVDFlick) - just not burnt. I have them in Video_TS and Audio_TS folders. Can I just burn these to DVD using Nero and if so which Nero checkbox do I use - the DVD Data option or the 'Other' option then the Video DVD? And if I use the video DVD I assume I have to copy the Video_TS files to the Video_TS folder on Nero?!

I was just going to use Nero to try converting from AVI but have read on posts that it takes too long so don't want to go down this route.

And if I go down the Winavi route which I have read takes about half an hour (much better!) then when I burn using Nero which option do I use?

Please help - something which should be relatively simple is turning into a nightmare! Thank you!

I have downloaded various films etc from the internet and these have been avi format. I just use Nero 6 and choose the "make your own dvd" option and these files are then copied and changed to a format that can be used on most dvd players.

The whole proces takes about 20 minutes for a full film.

If the files you have are vob then use the make your own dvd video option in Nero. Import files from the Video TS folder and these should make the video. You will have several files in this Video Ts folder so just import files named VIdeo TS_01_1 etc till all the files are on.

If you click on the Video TS_01_1 file does the film start running

I have no idea - I got so fed up with the whole process last night about 11pm that I just shut the PC down! I will try tonight.

Thanks - I think I have an older version of Nero though as it doesn't give me a 'Make Your Own DVD' option, it has 3 choices, one being data and one being other which includes Video and I can't remember the other one!

try sothink dvd maker it converts files then burns them all in one its easy to use and best of all its free type the name in google and download it from the site its easier than nero too
