I rely on the person driving the car. I can't read any form of map other than the AA route planner.

If I'm walking and alone I will ask for directions from someone who looks like a local.

I use a sundial, failing that I look to see which way the pigeons are going

I use the old fashioned method of looking at a map and then blaming the wife if we go wrong.

No not really, never had/used sat nav. I actually have a very good sense of direction and a photographic memory when looking at/reading maps. I just glance over my road map book at the towns, villages, motorway junctions I need as reference points and head off. An occasional glance en-route will usually suffice and providing you have enough petrol it is never really an issue. Unless of course mini-O decides to go for a poo-poo whereby I have not remembered suitable stop off points for baby-changing facilities!

Sat Navs are a wate of time in my experience. Get a map and/or ask a local for direcions any time.
