Meredith - Too much information?
I think there is too much information being given to the public concerning the murder of this poor girl. i cannot imagine the effect these insensitive headlines will have on her family. I have always thought that the Portugese methods of investigation ie. Madeleine , left a lot to be desired. But the amount of detail that the Italian police are making public is surely not necessary, and surely not fair to Merediths family. What a contrast!

I can't understand why a woman would let two men violate another woman in such a terrible way unless she was terrified, I guess people do some strange things when under the influence.
Absolutely. I suspect that, if there wasn't this sexual angle to it, or the victim hadn't been as attractive as this poor girl, the good old British press would probably have forgotten all about it by now. I can't imagine what her family are going through.
The sad part about it is that put this sort of stuff on the front page, screaming headlines, photo of pretty girl, sexual angle etc., and you'll sell thousands more copies. Lowest Common Denominator.

I agree with you sambro.
Do the public really need to know how long it must have taken Meredith to die?
My ex mother in law knew the family as she taught Meredith's older brother..she remembers Meredith being born, and has just told me that the headlines she saw deeply upset her.
Goodness only knows how this must be hurting her family :o(

anotheoldgit -yes, that thought did occur to me too. It makes me wonder what is actually being said by the police officially or unoficially. Or are the papers inventing theories like they have surely done with the McCanns case? I know most of us must share some of the responsibility for the way newspapers report the news. After all no one forces us to buy the newspapers. It is human nature to be nosy and have a sort of morbid interest in things like this. I would not advocate a state controlled press or anything like. But sometimes the lack of compassion is shocking. I have to admit to admit that over the last 6 months or so I have become very cynical about the media coverage of events. Particularly about Madeleine, Meredith and another case which a relative of mine was involved in (he was the victim) and I do know how the press was more concerned about the celebrity that was ithe culprit involved in the case. My relative was quoted with saying things that he had not said . Newspapers printed stories that made people assume that they had interviewed him , and i can honestly say this was not the case. It was disgusting and dishonest.
