I have just moved my son into a flat that i run, a girl and her son are moving into the flat below, so i have been running her around shopping and things, i seem to have found a new friend, i feel it could go a bit further, thats without bigging myself up about it. Thing is, she is younger than my eldest son, she is 30, i am 48, although i certainly don't act it. I am not actually after a relationship or even just a fling, so here i am at my advanced years acting like a teen again. After 21 years of an awful marriage i really don't want any complications and as i have got to be collecting her rent etc. for ever, i am thinking i am making a big mistake.

LOL topogigo, firstly, you are never too old!

And as for being 48, you are just a pup, mr warpig is 46 and soon to be a father for the first time!

The only problem I can see is the financial arrangment of the rent. If you enter into a relationship with her and say for example she cant pay the rent for a month then what do you do? There is the old addage of business and pleasure dont work. That said, mrwarpig was my landlord when I first met him umpteen years ago.
Sure, you're both old, so I wouldn't worry bout it. Joking.
May not seem a big age gap now, but in ten years time she will be 40 and you approaching 60. You will also lose the rent money!!
topogigo - Hiya - The rebel in me wants to say go for it , lifes too short. Then the cautious side says keep it at a proffesional distance for a while, least anyway while you get to know her background a lot more! You could as you have said make things very awkward were it all to go wrong.
topo go for it
in 10 years time we might all be dead.
grab your fun where you can m8

before its too late
If you're not after a relationship or a fling, what are you after?
i dont know you or her, but is there a chance you might be over stating things a bit? She's grateful you are helping her, and maybe flirting a bit so you carry on helping her (basically taking advantage of the fact she is a girl to get you to do what she wants)
making a bit of a fool out of you?
i don't understand the question, how can you be making
a BIG mistake if you don't want a relationship or a fling

if nothing happens then there isn't a problem

Bednobs you are probably right, as i don't go round looking for a relationship i do panic if i think i might have a situation to deal with, She is probably playing me at it.
Since my post i have found her crying in the co-op and had to take her home, i may need to dodge a bullet this time.
tell her to put the rent on the table then jump her bones .
Blyss bet me to the answer!

Using you to get to know YOUR son ??????
you only live once .you regret it if you finds some one elce.
she might just be being friendly, after all you are her landlord so she wants to be friends with you so she can get repairs done and she knows that she has a safe place to live without fear of being evicted.

I wouldnt do anything for now, try to let your brain do the talking..so to speak :D

I think Dassie may have a point there, clearly the son seems more of a catch what with his youth and good looks +al his teeth intact and good figure etc etc
So I get the feeling, she's using you to feel sorry for her and hence lower her rent or even let her live there for free!.... at the same time, trying to get in touch with your son through you.... talk about killing 2 twittering birds(1 old, 1 young) with one stone?
