Has anyone ever had Propranolol Hydrochloride?

Hi all,

I've just been prescribed this drug for situational anxiety and stress. It's a type of beta-blocker which is designed to slow my heart down when I suffer stress and mini panic attacks. I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried it for this purpose, and was it a success?

I was given it for the same reason but it never worked for me. What dosage are you on? I was on 2mg which is the lowest dose, and I dont know whether this was too low or whether it was just a placebo but it didn't prevent them anyway

Oh, that does sound quite low as I'm on 80mg once a day. Only had one so far, so obviously they won't have worked yet! I did think they may put me on a low dose of Diazepam, so am just wondering if beta-blockers are the correct thing. They must be as the doctor prescribed it, but I wanted something to deal with agitation with everything.

Oh maybe I'm confusing my dosage then! I'll check when I get home, maybe it was 10mg I had! Whatever the usual low dosage is!

It may have been 2mg diazepan and that may be wat I'm confusing them with! I think it worked better!

The dosage for Propranolol is as you have been prescribed 80mg and is usually very useful for anxiety and stress, you really should give it a chance to work. If you feel it's not working please consult your Doctor and he may change the dosage.Diazepam has a lot more side effects such as drowsiness etc. and chazza it is usually 2mg for anxiety as you realised,Propranolol tablets lowest dose start at 10mg.

Oh no, I know! I shall definitely give them a chance to work! Just thought it was funny that I'd been prescribed beta-blockers. Always thought these were for dodgy tickers
