I believe that's what they used to do let me know if it works lol
Hi it does sound like a ganglion I went to the doctor about mine a few months ago and he said that as long as it wasn't causing any pain I should leave it as they normally go away on there own.
I shut my little finger in the car door some years ago & between each of the scars, a pea size lump has recently appeared. The doc told me it was only a ganglion & best left alone.
I had a ganglion on my hand about 10 years ago, I saw the doctor, who promptly hit it with a ruler, I was shocked!! he explained that sometimes a sharp whack would get rid of it, seemed a bit drastic to me, but I thought it would be worth it if it worked, it didn't sadly, the ganglion kept getting larger, and I found that I was catching it in doorway and cupboard doors more and more as it grew larger which made it quite painful, I also didn't feel comfortable about it being there, folks used to ask what it was, the doctor referred me to a specialist and I had a small op to repair it, I was told that it was fluid that was leaking from my wrist joint, all went well, I was told that they can return sometimes, but my hasn't thankfully, I just have a small hairline scar which is hardly noticeable, if it bothers you, ask your GP to refer you and get it sorted.
Hope this helps M

My gran had a ganglion removed about 8 or 9 years ago and hers has grown back but she's not gonna do anything about it! lol

It is most likely to be a Lipoma (a small hard fatty lump- a sort of benign tumour) - Don't worry they don't cause any problems, the only time to worry, is if the lump starts growing rapidly. or gets "fixed" to underlying muscle tissue- Then contact your GP. The Lug xx

my dad has had a couple of lipoma's before i think.....he is quite lumpy and i quite often get little cysts in my earlobes too........its just that i am a born worrier and i just blow the tiniest things out of all proportion!! im actually on tablets for anxiety!
My little sis had one when she was about 8 , thumb side on her wrist joint, she had it taken out under local anaesthetic which they advised because of her age. She got another one within a couple of years which she put up with, then had it removed again under general anaesthetic in her early teens.

Touch wood another one has not appeared, she just has a worse scar than normal as opened up twice. She would have left it but it actually was quite painful but cosmetically wise not too bad unless she bent her wrist right up so you could really see it. No one else seems to have had them in the family though.

I had one of these at the base of my left humb for over two years and didn't do anything about it, although it was very obvious. It has almost gone without any treatment - honestly!
