I came off the pill in July. Had a 28day cycle, then 29, then 30 (which was normal for me before I went on the pill). My last proper period started on 20thOctober and I was expecting my next one to start around 19th Nov - I still haven't had a period and don't feel like one is imminent! I did a test on day 34 and it came back negative. But I wasn't completely suprised as I did bleed a bit on 1st/2nd Nov. I didn't have any other period symptoms at the time however I now assume it was a mini-period, probably because my body is still sorting itself out after coming off the pill. So I recalculated my dates and expected to come on around 1st December, but as I've said - nothing yet! Did a test on Sunday which was negative again. I am trying to get pregnant, but I don't think I am yet, as I don't have any symptoms (except lack of period) so think this is probably just my body getting used to not being on the pill. I just wondered whether anyone else has experienced anything similiar as I'm getting a bit freaked out? Thanks in advance.
When you come off the pill, it can sometimes take a while for your cycle to get back to normal. I hope you get your wish of getting pregnant, but doctors don't usually entertain anyone who hasn't been trying for at least a year - so good luck!
Oh I'm not worried - I wasn't suggesting going to the doctors or anything like that - I know it can take a while to get back to normal - I just wondered what other peoples experiences of coming off the pill were like.
Off course there could be a possibility that there isn't enough human Chorionic Gonadotrophin present to make the test show a positive result. That can happen sometimes. Perhaps give it another week or so and then try the test again?
Sorry, I mean't to say; when I came off the pill I think it took between 4 and 6 months to get pregnant. It's weird because I came off the pill over a year ago for the same sort of time so we could try and nothing happened, we then decided to put it off until we had renovated a house. I really didn't think it would happen as quickly as it did on the second attempt, but I'm glad it did.
