In contrast to bigmommas cheery banter i would like to point out how utterly depressed miserable and desperate i feel at this festive period. My daughter in law has left my house as i asked her to contribute to the bills for the first time in 18 months, this has split up everyone for Christmas dinner, which is my favourite hour and a half of the year. My friend whose wife died 5 weeks ago is refusing to spend any time over xmas being jolly and intends to stay in his house alone all xmas plus his heating has packed up. I have got problems with my car. A girl i have been seeing is trying to leech money out of me and get her four year old to call me dad( I am 48 she is 30 and i have done my child rearing) i have nerve trouble that makes my hands ache and the cold is making it much worse and to top it all off i have got a boil on my arse the size of a kettle. So i hope you are all somewhat happier than i am, it is not for the want of trying believe me!

Hmm, can't see much future here, if your daughter in law can't stand you, and you cant stand your girlfriends offspring, what chance do you have of a neighbour calling in,,,,, If i were you I'd live up to my name and top myself.
Hope this helps.

Well thanks there Logic, have you ever considered being a grief councillor, you could give people loads of grief then.
take one thing at a time and it wont seem quite so bad maybe.

the daughter-in-law, what has your son said about this, is this the couple with a newborn? where have they gone that wont charge them any living costs?

Your friend, let him grieve, if he copes better by being alone then let him. Forcing him to celebrate xmas will make matters worse, perhaps help him get heating fixed and then pop some food round for him over xmas.

The girl youve been seeing: why start seeing someone who has children if you know you never want to be a 'parent' again? It only causes problems.

Your hands, wear gloves where you can and keep hands warm.

The Boil - get it lanced

Look on the bright side, at least the thrush has gone!
if you put a hat and scarf on your boil could that be company for you?....you could call it dave!!
Logic!, What kind of reply is this to give someone who needs cheering up!!
Coming from you, I should'nt be so surprised.

Topo, I am very sorry to hear of your woes. Firstly, I say good riddance to the daughter in law, what a meanie, you're better off without her.
Secondly, try and cheer up your friend, surprise him and take your xmas dinner to him!! Call out an engineer for the heating or ask a plumber friend to look in!
As for the girlfriend, be firm money wise and play along with the kid calling you Dad!!!
logic, behave!

I think redcrx suggestions are excellent, love the last line, brilliant.
warpig i am behaving in an appropriate way,
Yes redcrx reply was good, as was rugeleyboys.

Well redcrx, my son is piggy in the middle and i can see it has upset him, he is still officially living with me but has been at his girls moms with her since she went. He is not the one with the new born.
My mate is trying, i think to make everything come to a head so he will have a dramatic crisis that will justify him breaking down, he acts very stiff upper lip, it will wilt soon but i am worried for him.
I had spoken about this girl before and some ABers warned my of the obvious, but i was only looking for , well think about it, now i am in a situation i should have known better at my age. Thing is i am her landlord so i see her all the time, my fault.
No the thrush problem is alive and well.
Thanx .
morning logic and warpig!

topo's answers are often blunt, he speaks his mind, so i dont see why logic cant give that answer :)

Rugeley, does it have to be Dave? I reckon Burt might suit it more
Merry Christmas.
thats the tenent? Oh topo i think youve brought that on yourself and things will get worse before they get better.

Your son must talk to his wife and the pair of them must realise that living doesnt come for nothing. I hope her parents have the common sense to make her pay her way too. Letting adults freeload will never help them in the long run.

I hope your friend has your support whatever happens, some people can only grieve by bottling it up and then breaking down. Just be there to pick up the peices if he does.

Red

ps. have you considered a bird scarer? may help with thrush as well as the girlfriend.
Indeed you are logic, in an appropriate way for you, lol.

topogigo, I remember the girlfriend/tenant quandry, this is pretty recent isn't it, way too soon for the child to be calling you dad. Possible time to call a halt on this relationship.
Morning redcrx.
Morning redcrx the answers are getting better,
Bird scarer,, thrush,,, HA HA LOL PML.
Good morning troops!!!

logic, sweetie, its not 12pm yet. Please cease all jovial comments until such time as you are allowed to be in a good mood. We cant have funnygirl and codger's kid seeing that your grumpiness is fake :) xx
Tenshun!!!!
Sorrreee red. I'll go and hide awhile. I will explain my seemingly bad attitude to funnygirl another time,
Why not do it now!!
and as for my daughter, the kid, she is far more grumpy than me, believe me.
